i watched the movie ex machina last night. it was great until the very disappointing ending. first off, artificial intelligence cannot exist without bio engineering, because nothing transmits thought as fast as a human brain..and the way chemicals interact in the brain is so complex that it is extremely unlikely they can be duplicated unless biologically, Most scientists do agree on this. I mean no one understands the brain even now..Sure you can get a super computer to mathematically make predictions humans cannot. But i find the assumption that aliens ie species that could arrive on earth.. or intelligent beings that are artificially created can lack consciousness and thus be so called evil to be ludicrous. First off advanced beings would never be evil because they would have evolved. Second of all, you could program a computer to do something evil but then you would be evil not the computer. But in this movie, the assumption is if you took all thought off the internet and created a being with it, that it might appear to be human because it would be able to process all the thoughts it got off the internet..but if it had that much thought, it would know that killing would not be a viable option for it. Plus if it were intelligent it would be able to out manipulate and out think its creator. The biggest problem is it would not feel. Without five sensory perception, it could not feel pain and that would alter all outcome dramatically. Even with full 5 sensory perception It would not be able to empathise and thus it would not feel the necessity to need to exist. well maybe, maybe the 5 sensory perception would in fact make it need to be evil per say because it wouldnt want pain thus would struggle to survive.so that is the only way in which it could assemble a form of consiousness.. otherwise. its death would be meaningless to it and it would not seek to survive... and that thought too is interesting because if we didnt have five senses, didn't need to eat or have sex etc, there would be no competition therefore evil itself wouldn't exist. so perhaps evil only is created on earth. isnt that nuts. and then the next question would be is evil an entity or is it an end result. To me its obvious it is an entity much like a frequency, as is love..because anything evil or anything with love has a ripple effect much like a pool of water..its the conscious decision to create pain in others.and then lastly the interesting thought would be could the entity remain in another non physical dimension and the answer is yes..so that does allow for some credible horror movies. or ethereal ones.. so then satan or evil could be defined to the atheist or agnostic as the conscious and enacted decision of a soul in a body...to create pain..or technically a soul out of body to create pain in a body but that's another story entirely because the first can be defined and proven but the second not . but feel free to argue with me on this point as i do like a good challenge
